Being set in a tropical resort, HBO’s The White Lotus is a visually stunning show, with the set design lending to that of a decadent, tropical vacation destination. For the series finale, I wanted to create my own little slice of the resort, so it came about a quick little set dressing project. Using my study’s built in bookcase that I built through the lockdown, I laid down vinyl flooring over the carpet to lend a more sophisticated look with blonde, chevron floorboards.
A chic glass and brass sideboard was brought in to balance out the space, dressed with lush plants and accessories. The shelves were decked out with relaxed, tropical inspired decor, with more plants to liven up the space. Details like the stacked margarita glasses and mounted shell statue up the resort style factor, while sculptures and other decorative elements soften the space.
The sign was custom made, using an MDF board as the base, with a paint, bleed and scrape technique used over it to give the artistic element. The logo and name were cut out by hand from marble vinyl adhesive, and all together gives the set a more realistic sense about it, having the brand right there in clear view.
